We Are More Than Our Circumstances

We are in the middle of a delusion.
We are more than our bodies,
We are more than our futures,
We are more than our defenses,
If we weren’t more than these,
I’d be joining you in your rage.

We are more than our culture,
We are more than our leaders,
We are more than our denials,
If we weren’t more than these,
I’d be joining you in your protests.

I don’t want ever to be brainwashed
Some call me mind boggling, some say I am intense.
Before I became aware,
I was uncomfortable in my own skin.
I was thirsty,
But mostly I was beautiful.

We are more than our name tags,
We are more than our rejections,
If we were our outcomes,
I’d be joining you in your violence.

We are more than our indignities,
We are more than our successes,
We are more than our emotions,
If we weren’t
I’d be joining you in your pain.

You and I, could be more like four year olds.
We want to know why, and how come about everything.
We want to reveal ourselves at will, and speak our minds.
And never talk small talk and be intuitive,
And question mightily, and find God my tortured beacon.
We need to find like-minded companions.

If we were their condemnations,
If we were their projections,
If we were our paranoia’s, I’d be joining you in your conflict.
If we were our incomes,
If we were our obsessions,
If we were our afflictions, I’d be joining you in your agitation.

We need more reflection,
We need to think about
Our really good memories.

Feel free to call me a little more often.
